You moved into a house with a pre-existing security system
Sometimes when people buy a home, a home security system is already in use. All the alarms and cameras function well, are installed in the best spaces, and are ready to go. In this example, you might discover that you have to call and set up a new service contract. A Vivint installer will still show up to make sure there are no usability issues, and they may offer ideas on upgrades. It's a preliminary visit, and you can get your monitoring set up without having a bill for any new devices -- unless you get some new devices.
The outgoing owners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to your family for a one-time transfer cost to make the process a snap. If the owners are moving to a condo or retirement community, transferring the Vivint service might be a condition of the sale.
You are looking to move and bring your home security components with you
You might want to take your existing home security components with you to a new home when you move. That’s pretty easy to do, as modern smart devices are wireless. You can take down each alarm or camera by yourself or contact a Vivint installer to come and take down everything. Then our installers will set up the same devices -- and any additions you want to make -- in your new place. The home security contract will stay the same.
